Introduction

Small Industries Development Board (SIDB) was created through an act of NWFP Parliament in 1972 to promote small industries. Since then, SIDB has established nine Small Industrial Estates in the province. Besides, SIDB has established training and manufacturing centers for Wood Working, Automotive, Carpet, Knitting, Weaving, Stitching and Leather Goods. Small Industries Development Board has established 10 Small Industries Estates (SIEs) throughout the Province, wherein infrastructures facilities such as Roads, Surface, Drainage, Water Supply, Sewerage System, Electricity, Sui Gas and Telephone etc, have been provided for the establishment of industrial.

Vision

SIDB has been assigned a promotional role to support and assist the development of cottage and small industries in the Province. In this regard SIDB establishes training centers as well as small industrial estates at District & Tehsil level to accelerate the pace of Industrialization in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mission

The Mission of SIDB:

• Provide basic infrastructure facilities to accelerate industrial development in the province

• Provide need based skills (skilled manpower through SIDB Training Centers) to feed the local small industry base for better productivity and quality

• Improvement in socio-economic conditions of the province through employment generation and industrial development

• Establishment of model projects in clusters to make the local industry more competitive Encourage domestic and foreign investment in overall industrial

What does KP-SIDB Do

The major functions of SIDB are concentrated in the fields of Cottage Industries , Production/Common Facility Centers, Provision of fully development industrial plots, and Marketing Channels.
