Description

Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) led economic growth has been a hallmark of economic prosperity in the developed and emerging economies of the world. Establishment of Small Industrial Estates across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa especially in Abbottabad, Mansehra and Chitral will have significant effects over socio-economic development in the region. Moreover, it will provide a window to expand trade with neighbouring countries. The one of the major catalyst sector of economy is industry, and the further important field in industry sector is to develop industrial estates/zones to promote micro/macro economic activities in the Province. 

In perspective of emerging economic scenario of Pakistan, Cottage (Micro), Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) development is vital for economic growth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at this stage as a decade long enhanced investment in hydropower generation in the region has created a base which can be capitalized on. The industrial estates are instrumental not only in generation of employment opportunities but also in utilization of local resources including raw material and manpower. SIDB is also playing a key role in imparting technical & vocational training, skill development and ensures financial inclusion of both male and females in the province.

The Small Industrial Estates that are proposed to be established on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode are;

  1. Abbottabad-III
  2. Mansehra-II
  3. Chitral

In this regard, the feasibility study will determine viability of the ideas through private consultant for establishment of the above mentioned Small Industrial Estates under PPP mode. Among its other ToRs, the consultant will also propose multiple sites along with their categories based on availability of raw material, human resource, trend of the people, availability of independent electric feeder, gas and water and will develop PC-I for purchase of land.

 

This feasibility study is being designed for establishment of Small Industrial Estates in Mansehra, Abbottabad and Chitral on Public Private Partnership mode, in wider regional context of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) and for development of wider Global Value Chain and export led industry to achieve the following objectives;

  1. To open new avenues for industrial development and economic diversification.
  2. To support the transition from a state-owned and managed economy to a modern, private sector-led economy.
  3. To creating an enabling business environment for international and local investors.
  4. To support the competitiveness of Provincial exports in international markets with preference to central Asian markets.
